Sandhills Center cohosts first CIT training class in Rockingham County

During the week of Oct. 31 through Nov. 4, 2022, Rockingham County held its first Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training in partnership with Sandhills Center. Nineteen law enforcement officers and other first responders graduated from the 40-hour class. Students came from local agencies including the Reidsville Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police Department, North Carolina Department of Public Safety (NCDPS) - Probation and Parole, Eden Police Department, Cone Health Security, Greensboro Police Department, North Carolina State Parks, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. CIT training in Rockingham County is a partnership between Sandhills Center, NAMI – Alamance/Caswell/Rockingham, Rockingham County Health and Human Services, NCDPS Community Corrections, the Reidsville Police Department, Mayodan Police Department, Daymark Recovery Services, Madison Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Eden Police Department, the Sandhills Center Consumer and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC), the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, and Rockingham Community College.
